This Citation Policy applies to all Subscribers of the Lipid Atlas platform operated by SMEY Biotechnologies. It complements the General Terms and Conditions available at www.lipidatlas.com/terms, and in particular Articles 6, 8 and 9 thereof. In the event of any inconsistency, the Terms and Conditions shall prevail.

Required citation format. Subscribers who wish to refer to the Platform as a data source in scientific publications, pre-prints, posters, presentations, grant applications or regulatory submissions shall cite the Platform as follows: SMEY Biotechnologies, Lipid Atlas (www.lipidatlas.com), accessed [DD Month YYYY]. Where a Digital Object Identifier (DOI) is communicated by SMEY for a specific dataset or release, it shall be included in the citation.

Citation is not reproduction. The right to cite the Platform as a source is strictly limited to a bibliographic reference identifying the Platform as the origin of the information consulted. It does not, in any case, authorise the reproduction, in whole or in part, of the underlying Data (including structures, identifiers, spectra, annotations, datasets, tables, figures or visualisations) in any publication, pre-print, poster, supplementary material, repository or AI/ML training corpus. It does not authorise the disclosure of the Data to any person who is not himself or herself an authenticated Subscriber bound by the Terms.

Prior written authorisation for any reproduction. Any reproduction of all or part of the Data outside the Platform, including for the purposes of scientific publication, requires the prior, express and written authorisation of SMEY. Subscribers wishing to obtain such authorisation shall send a reasoned written request to contact@smey.cc, specifying the intended publication or communication, the precise items of Data they wish to reproduce, and the purpose and extent of the reproduction. SMEY may grant, refuse or condition the authorisation at its sole discretion.

Confidentiality and non-prior-art reminder. The Data is made available to Subscribers under the closed-circle confidentiality regime set out at Articles 8 and 9 of the Terms. The Data does not constitute prior art within the meaning of Article 54(2) of the European Patent Convention or of any equivalent national or international provision. The Subscriber shall not, by means of citation, reference or otherwise, contribute, directly or indirectly, to a public disclosure of the Data that would compromise this regime.
